I am a member of the Isle of Man Amateur Radio Society, Radio Society of Great Britain, Royal Air Force Amateur Radio Society and the American Radio Relay League. The IOMARS also incorporates a branch of RAYNET - Radio Amateurs Emergency Network.
My radio 'bug' covers many aspects of radio and electronics - homebrew antenna design and construction, digital modes, and contesting. Although my licence limits my output power to 50 watts, I have now worked and confirmed in excess of 50 countries using 50 watts or considerably less!
I have re cently started to experiment with 70MHz (4m band) and hope to make many contacts around europe with QRP power on FM using a Philips FM1200 ex PMR radio, and some SSB using a homebrew PW Meon transverter and my Yaesu FT-817. My antenna arrangements vary depending on the bands that I am working, but generally at home I use a G5RV for 80m, 40m and 20, Amtron A99 vertical for 15m - 10m, and a dedicated dipole for 17m. For VHF and UHF a Comet GP15 covers three popular VHF bands (6m, 2m and 70cm), and a TGM Mini Beam (5 band) has been acquired which will be sorted out on a small tower some time!
Mobile ops are fronted by a Watson Multi Ranger 9 band vertical (fly lead) mounted on my Ford Mondeo, while a Sandpiper PBX100 MkII has been bought for long periods of static mobile/portable use.
Thanks for looking in, I hope to catch you on the amateur radio bands soon!

You can find more information on me and my location on www.qrz.com or please visit.........
I favour the use of eQSL as an environmentally friendly way of confirming contacts made, and reducing waste from paper cards. Please feel free to send me cards in this way rather than direct or via the bureau.
ALL QSL cards received by me will be returned 100% - if you post direct to me please do not include stamps as UK stamps cannot be used on the Isle of Man. An IRC or $2 (US) is sufficient to cover postage costs for QSL cards sent to most of Europe and beyond, but is not essential. If not requested, all cards will be sent via the bureau, so please be patient.
If you would like a sked for a QSO please email me =o)
